With Fulton Hogan as the SA Water delivery partner, Aquatec were awarded the contract to design and supply the odour control facility in Morphett Vale, South Adelaide.
The upgrade is part of a $6.7 million upgrade to the system, which will address a long-standing issue of sewer odours that has affected the local community.
Our experienced team is designing a tailored odour control solution to ensure regulatory compliance and optimal operational efficiency of the new wastewater infrastructure.
The changes in elevation and slopes within this sewer network segment lead to greater turbulence, which in turn causes hydrogen sulphide to be released more rapidly. By combining innovative solutions with our process and project engineering capabilities, we can address the unique site challenges.
“Our sewers play an essential role in protecting public health, and it’s important that every effort is made to ensure the operation of this infrastructure happens as seamlessly as possible without impacting the local community.
The new odour control unit to be installed at Morphett Vale is a great example of SA Water investing in a fit-for-purpose solution, which is in direct response to ongoing feedback from its customers. This is just one of the many projects set to be delivered as part of SA Water’s record $3.3 billion capital program aimed at improving their services for South Australians. I encourage residents to keep an eye on their letterboxes for updates on the project as it gets closer to the start of construction.” Nick Champion, Minister for Housing and Urban Development of South Australia
“We are thrilled to partner with Fulton Hogan and SA Water to deliver this impactful odour control facility. Providing innovative solutions that enhance community well-being and environmental quality is what drives us to deliver excellence. Together, we’re building a future with cleaner, fresher air for all.” Jared Seeley, Business Development Director
The construction of the Morphett Vale Odour Control System is expected to commence early 2025.
